St Albans City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has released a new map of places to eat and drink in central St Albans.
From traditional pubs to trendy brunch spots, locally sourced produce to flavours from across the globe, St Albans is well known for its exceptional culinary scene. With its combination of historic and modern architecture, tucked away alleys and winding streets, you’ll find an array of places to eat and drink spread across the city centre. To help visitors and residents alike discover what’s on offer the new Food & Drink Map lists 120 locations in the BID area including restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, pubs, bars, dessert places, takeaways and convenience stores.
With many businesses also catering for different dietary requirements, the map includes information on places that offer vegan and gluten-free dining options as well signposting dog-friendly locations and those that accept the St Albans Gift Card. The colourful map also features illustrations of some of the city’s attractions including St Albans Cathedral, the Clock Tower, St Peter’s Church, St Albans Museum + Gallery and The Alban Arena.
The map was designed by artist Eleanor Grana, Hicca Glass:
“I was delighted when the BID reached out to ask me to illustrate and design their new Food & Drink Map, after they saw my wayfinding map in Sumpter Yard for the Cathedral. I grew up in St Albans and have had the pleasure of working with the BID team when I worked at St Albans Cathedral and St Albans Museums. St Albans is a wonderful city with a great foodie scene, and I loved illustrating some of the key buildings in the town along with some tasty treats.”
Vivien Cannon, BID Manager, St Albans City Centre BID says:
“The BID is thrilled to support the hospitality sector with the launch of our St Albans City Centre Food & Drink Map. Through our destination marketing campaigns the BID helps attract tourists and supports businesses by spreading the word about our wonderful city and highlighting what’s on offer. This includes producing the official Visitor Guide and managing the Enjoy St Albans website and social media. Whether it’s a family meal, a night out with friends or if you’re simply looking for something quick to pick up at lunch, the Food & Drink Map is a handy navigational tool to help you explore the wide range of sensational dining experiences in the city centre.”
The map is available to pick up from visitor information points at St Albans Cathedral and St Albans Museum + Gallery as well as the city centre hotels. A digital version of the map and a comprehensive online directory of places to eat and drink are available on the official visitor website www.enjoystalbans.com/eat-drink
