It was our first year of partnering up with the St Alban Cathedral Team to deliver a full day of activities in celebration of city’s long and varied history and namesake.
For the event, the BID arranged a host of activities to celebrate the history of the city, including Roman reenactments, mosaic painting, inflatable gladiator duel, giant jigsaws, Medieval scriptorium and badge making, clay modelling and music.
We received feedback from Clare who won a £50 St Alban Gift Card for completing our Pilgrim Passport trail and she said:
“’St Alban Day 2025 was a fantastic family filled day! The larger-than life parade through the city’s streets is a phenomenal spectacle showcasing the heroic story of St Alban, Britain’s first saint. There was such a variety of hands-on activities appealing to all age groups that delved into the history and culture of Roman Verulamium. The big highlights for us were the mosaic printing and searching for the items to get stamps on our Pilgrim Passport. The afternoon was beautifully concluded with Evensong in the cathedral which was very atmospheric and special.
All in all, the day was such a joyful celebration of the city of St Albans and all it has to offer, but most importantly of St Alban himself Britain’s first Saint.
Events such as these really highlight the unity and culturally rich community in St Albans-something quite unique and rare in Britain in the modern day!”
We couldn’t ask for a better review!
