Our mission is to ensure St Albans continues to thrive as a premium place to do business, for residents to live and for visitors to enjoy as a destination. We continue to support and unite our local business community, from negotiating collective preferential terms for professional services that make bottom line savings for BID members to managing a shop local gift card (link to the GC page) to drive local spend.

Post pandemic, St Albans emerged a thriving city with big brand names and new independents choosing it as a destination to open. We aim to make sure the city remains buoyant through difficult economic times delivering a measurable difference, sustaining and increasing visitor footfall and working to support our business community during difficult economic times.

As needed, we offer a coordinated business voice and will advocate for our businesses to ensure your views, opinions, and suggestions are heard. We facilitate contact between BID members and key city stakeholders.

We signpost to relevant business support agencies, as well as host training. Through our newsletter and direct mailouts, we disseminate important information for businesses to be aware of.

Collaborative working

BID is open to approaches from businesses and community organisations who can offer tangible delivery outcomes against the four objectives. The Board will receive written approaches that address the information requested here. Please note that BID is not a grant giving organisation.

 

Strategic Objectives & Activities

Over the 5-years of this 2nd BID term, BID will manage circa £2million of investment in activities that support our city and businesses.

The budget is utilised to deliver to the 4 objectives through direct spend and by partnering up with other stakeholders contributing seed funds to initiate activity, being a sponsor of activity or cost sharing, and running the BID office.

Introducing economies of scale contract for relevant services

BID helps and supports BID member businesses to secure by creating greater strategic opportunities, such as the savings that can be made through our preferential commercial waste agreement.

Working in partnership with all relevant stakeholders of the city

BID works collaboratively to achieve our objectives and partners up with city stakeholders to support projects and work streams that ensure we can achieve our objectives.
