New trail for Easter – Crack the Easter Egg Joke Hunt

8 Apr 2025

Enjoy some free family fun and laughter this Easter weekend with a cracking egg hunt from St Albans City Centre BID.

Running from Friday 18th April until Monday 21st April 2025, the “Crack the Easter Egg Joke Hunt” invites you to find six golden eggs hidden in the city centre, each with a joke or a punchline. Find all of them to complete three egg-cellent jokes and a chance to win a St Albans Gift Card.

To start the egg hunt, collect an entry form from St Albans Museum + Gallery information desk (open daily 10am – 4pm), then head to the streets listed on the form. Crack the shop clue to identify which shop or businesss window has the golden egg, once you find the egg, write down the joke or punchline.

Once you’ve found all the eggs, match the joke to the punchline and complete your details on the entry form and post it in the “Crack the Easter Egg Joke Hunt” Post Box back at St Albans Museum + Gallery to be entered into a prize draw to win a £75 St Albans Gift Card or one of two runner-up prizes of a £25 St Albans Gift Card.

The trail takes about forty-five minutes to complete but can be completed in more than one visit. It’s completely free for families and groups to take part in.

Capture an Easter picture! The BID has also arranged colourful Easter Bunny cutout photo props outside Empire Records and Chaos City Comics at Heritage Close shopping precinct, off the High Street, where children can pose for fun pictures.

Vivien Cannon, BID Manager, St Albans City Centre BID says: “All ‘yolk-ing’ aside, we are happy to create this new free trail for families to enjoy which showcases our city centre. The lucky winners will benefit from having the chance to visit again and spend their St Albans Gift Card. Whilst completing the hunt, there is an array of wonderful eateries and shops to visit, so make St Albans your destination this Easter.”
