In May, BID invited the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to visit St Albans and navigate between our visitor attractions and then share their feedback with us so that we can learn how the city is perceived by those who are partially sighted or blind. This activity builds on our awareness raising of The Purple Pound and the customer experiences of disabled customers.
We asked for feedback on how easy or comfortable it is to navigate reaching the city and then moving between venues. We now have their final report and you can read the report for yourself and glean your own helpful understandings to make changes with your own business.
We have passed the feedback onto the rail station, Hertfordshire County Council, and the venues visited. We will also be sharing the report with the St Albans District Access Forum and ShopMobility who themselves are key campaigners for better shopping and service experiences.
This year, Purple Tuesday is on Thursday 12 November. The global campaign aims to create awareness and encourage businesses to improve their accessibility and practice for disabled customers.
