The nights are drawing in and spooky characters have taken up residency in St Albans as St Albans City Centre BID and businesses host a family-friendly Halloween trail this half-term.

In the Totally Spooking Out Halloween Trail, players follow along with a fun Halloween story, solve riddles and take selfies with spooky characters. The free interactive trail runs from Saturday 19^th October to Friday 1^st November.

To participate, players use their phones to track down 10 spooky masks displayed in the windows of 10 city centre businesses. Scan the ‘Collect’ QR code on any poster in any order to bring up a mini challenge and then reveal a colourful spooky character in augmented reality (AR). You can even try on a digital mask and take a fun selfie.

All you need is your mobile phone and you are set to go track down the characters. The trail works without the need to download or sign up to anything and works on any smart device. Make sure your QR code scanning setting is activated on your phone.

Vivien Cannon, BID Manager, St Albans City Centre BID says: “Our Halloween trail is not only a fun and free thing for families to do this half-term, but also a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and walk around our wonderful city centre. We invite you to make a day of it and enjoy our superb shops, cafés and attractions too.”

The trail takes about forty-five minutes to complete but can be completed in more than one visit. It’s completely free for families and groups to take part in and there’s a free digital fun pack at the end.
