Take Part in Sustainable St Albans 2019

11 Dec 2018

Would you like to get your business involved in SustFest19? As you may know. Sustainable St Albans has been developing its events programme since autumn 2015, when the first Sustainable St Albans Week was launched in time with the Paris Climate Change talks. With over 2,000 local people attending events in 2016, plus hundreds more in local schools, the Week has shown that residents across St Albans, Harpenden and the villages do care about creating a sustainable district – and are keen to make changes to support the environment.

SustFest19– across St Albans, Harpenden and the villages –  will take place from 11th May – 1st June with over 100 events taking place for you to put on, participate in and enjoy.  All events are run by local community groups, businesses, faith groups and schools – all about living more sustainably and supporting the environment.

As a business, there are three ways to get involved, but the most important thing to remember is that it should be right for you, your team and your customers.

(1) Run an event or activity during SustFest19

Why don’t you take part in the Sustainability Festival (18th May – 1st June). Registration opens on 2nd Jan, and is open during January. (You can register to take part after this, but you won’t be guaranteed a place in the programme.)

An event can be aimed at your customers (e.g. a special offer, campaign, or window display) or could be involve just their own staff (e.g. walk to work, vegetarian lunches, or waste free week). The important element is that each business chooses something that suits them and is linked to the environment in some way.

(2) Advertise in the programme

Businesses can also advertise in the programme (£500 for a whole page, £250 for a half). In 2018 11,000 copies were distributed throughout the District covering all the period’s activities.

(3) Take a stall at the first ever SustFest Market Takeover on Sunday 19th May

On Sunday 19th May, St Albans City Centre will be taken over by stalls and activities focussed on living sustainably. Local organisations whose business encourages sustainability can apply to have a stall (price t.b.d but likely to be £40) and engage with local residents. More info will follow: please register your interest by email below.
