Families are invited to take on Summer of Football: Champion’s Quest, a new outdoor augmented reality (AR) trail launching in St Albans from Saturday 4th July to Sunday 26th of July.
Hosted by St Albans City Centre BID, the trail turns St Peter’s Street into an interactive adventure with seven stops packed with games and puzzles.
Players simply follow the trail, scanning QR codes at each location to unlock a different augmented reality experience, including mini-games and selfie filters. Along the way, they’ll hunt for hidden symbols within the artwork, crack a secret password and unlock a downloadable digital activity pack.
Designed to be completed in under 30 minutes, the free trail offers an easy and engaging family activity while encouraging visitors to explore the city centre and discover local shops, cafés and restaurants.
Although inspired by football, Champion’s Quest has been designed for everyone to enjoy. Older children and adults can take on the AR games and digital challenges, while younger explorers can search for the hidden symbols at each stop.
Families can begin the trail by scanning a QR code at any of the seven locations. No app download is required as the experience works on any modern smartphone with an internet connection.
Thank you to those businesses that are supporting the trail: Clarks, Vision Express, Robert Dyas, Dulchies, Oxfam, Nottingham Building Society and Black Sheep Coffee.
