A NO vote means St Albans City Centre BID will cease operating at the end of the current term on 31 March 2027, and the added-value services and enhancements funded through the BID levy will end.
The BID levy would no longer be collected, and the ring-fenced investment dedicated to the BID programme would end.
BID-funded activity that would end includes:
You lose an organisation able to take on the liabilities of city-wide events and enhancements
No guarantee for delivery of attracting street scene enhancements and installations like Christmas illuminations
Limited opportunities to shape the future of the St Albans business community
No more additionality to local services such as safety and security schemes
You will only have council service investment where budgets allow
You forgo preferential rates for waste management
You no longer have a City Centre business voice and advocate
A significantly reduced level of investment and focus on St Albans for marketing and promotion that attracts spend
No St Albans Gift Card or BID Benefits
If the BID doesnt secure a third-term, those additional BID-funded projects and services will come to an end.
